New this year: Program data are displayed in a chart format, allowing you to quickly and easily compare various programs and find the one that's right for you. Chart data include class capacity, start dates, program length(s), yearly tuition cost, academic award(s) granted, and availability of evening/weekend courses. Data are displayed only for those programs that completed the AMA's 2005 Survey of Health Professions Programs.
In addition to a complete listing of all accredited programs, with program name, address, and contact information, the Directory includes a useful description of each profession’s job duties, required education, and average salary. Being listed in the AMA’s book, a nationally recognized reference for planning a health career, raises the profile of each profession among K-12 students and helps ensure growing awareness of the many opportunities in the allied health field.
The experts agree: A review by Doody Publishing awarded the Directory a 4-star ranking. “The contact information is excellent and will be useful whether readers are undergraduates looking at career options or mentoring practitioners advising current students. Most notably, the data from recent graduates are excellent and unique pieces of valuable information.” The reviewer also praised the directory for its readability and content, adding that it is “well put together, complete, and easy to use.”
Similarly, the Brandon/Hill Selected List of Print Books and Journals in Allied Health, published in the Bulletin of the Medical Library Association, mentions the Directory as an essential reference and resource.
