Health Professions Network 2005 Fall Conference

September 22-25, 2005 - Louisville, Kentucky

The Health Professions Network (HPN) invites you to the HPN Fall Conference, “New Initiatives in Allied Health,” to be held in Louisville, KY. This meeting is in celebration of HPN’s 10th anniversary. The Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the meeting, with arrival scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, September 22, 2005, and departure for the morning of Sunday, September 25, 2005.

The Coordinating Team has identified speakers on several topics. Here’s what we have so far:

  • The keynote presentation on Friday, September 23 will focus on "Organizational Behavior Meets Generation X and Y – A Practical Approach."
  • A panel discussion, featuring representatives of the U.S. Department of Labor and the Health Resources and Services Administration also will take place on September 23, and address “What Federal Agencies Are Doing Regarding Healthcare Workforce Development and Other Initiatives.” Panelists will have the opportunity to respond to questions from the audience.

  • Individual speaker presentations on September 23-24 include:

    • “Clinical Partnerships”
    • "Are We Graduating Enough Health Care Providers to Meet Current and Future Needs?"
    • "How Mapping Can Support Allied Health Professionals"
    • "Employment Retention: Got Them? Keep Them."

The Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau invites all Health Professions Network Members to come to Louisville on September 22-25, and has graciously arranged for complimentary flight transportation to the city. Travel Authority is the agency that will handle flight arrangements. Guests should call 1-800-634-5656 and identify themselves as being with HPN. You do not need to ask for any specific person.

The Galt House Hotel and Suites will be hosting the HPN meeting and will offer complimentary hotel accommodations. Attendees wishing to extend their stay through an early arrival and/or late departure should indicate this on their reply form. Rates for an extended stay will be $125 and will be the responsibility of the attendee and will need to be made directly with the hotel. HPN will forward the names of meeting registrants to the Galt House Hotel; the hotel will contact you directly with reservation information. An exciting array of social functions also has been planned during the HPN meeting to give you the opportunity to get a good feel for Louisville and how it might serve as a future meeting site.

Please fill out the registration form and return it with your $150 registration fee no later than September 8, 2005. The $150 fee helps HPN offset the cost of printing, postage for mailings, and speaker reimbursement. (If you would like to take advantage of the complimentary airline travel please register for the meeting and contact Travel Authority 1-800-634-5656 no later than September 1st.)

We hope you will join us in Louisville. This is an important meeting for representatives from all of the allied health professional organizations, as we will review projects underway and we identify future goals and projects.
